Accomplished work.

Ricardo Santiago began his legal career as a paralegal and a law clerk working in personal injury (plaintiffs and defense), bankruptcy, and immigration law. This diverse range of experiences have honed his ability to provide comprehensive and empathetic legal services to individuals.

As an attorney, Ricardo worked at a premier family law firm where he handled high-net-worth divorce cases, addressing complex issues such as business valuations, estate divisions, international jurisdictional disputes, and orders of protection. His commitment to accessible legal services led him to CARPLS Legal Aid, where he contributed to the Cook County Legal Aid for Housing and Debt (CCLAHD) initiative. In this role, he provided critical advice to clients facing consumer debt and housing challenges, as well as guidance on divorce-related matters.

In academia, Ricardo has served as associate editor of the Journal of Intellectual Property and student editor of the Employee Rights & Employment Policy Journal at Chicago-Kent College of Law. Ricardo has written award-winning papers for legal writing competitions and currently teaches legal writing and family law in the paralegal studies program at Wilbur Wright College. Ricardo has a firm commitment to support students pursuing a legal education. His dedication to legal education was recognized during his time at Chicago-Kent College of Law, where he was inducted into the Bar & Gavel Society—an honor bestowed upon law students who demonstrate outstanding service to the law school, the community, and the legal profession.

Beyond his professional and academic endeavors, Ricardo has made a significant impact through community service. He has assisted over 700 clients through legal aid work, regularly volunteers at community events and legal programs, and provides pro bono services on Special Immigrant Juvenile Status (SIJS) matters.
